Swan Valley, also known as Condon, is located in northwestern Montana, situated between Seeley Lake and Swan Lake on Montana Highway 83. The interesting thing about Swan Valley is that the U.S. Postal Service will deliver your mail whichever address you choose. For years it was only Condon, but then local residents petitioned the Post Office to have the name changed to Swan Valley. The Post Office diplomatically decided it would deliver to the same post office in Condon (or Swan Valley) even if people used Swan Valley (Condon) in the address.
Condon, like nearby Seeley Lake, is growing rapidly. It has always attracted retirees and in recent years celebrities have been acquiring land here. Condon has been said to have the longest main street anywhere as services and businesses are scattered remotely along a 10-mile stretch of Highway 83, 20 miles north of Seeley Lake.
The area offers easy access to both The Bob Marshall and Mission Mountains Wilderness areas, and both mountain ranges rise most abruptly from the valley floor in this area. Area lakes include Seely Lake and Swan Lake, and the remarkable Flathead Lake farther north. There are so many recreation possibilities that you could literally live here and boat, hike, camp, swim, fish, and ski all year long for years and still find activities to keep you busy.
Swan Valley is the ideal place for a quiet, moderate lifestyle filled with all the best nature has to offer. Swan Valley is only an hours drive from Glacier National Park, one of the most pristine and lovely parks in the nation.
As far as buying a home here or vacation property in the Swan Valley you will find that generally these priced higher than some of the surrounding areas perhaps because Condon is more remote and there are fewer small parcels available. If peace and quiet are what you seek this is a perfect location for you!
